Change your instance's domain anytime — subdomain or your own

Picked a subdomain at signup that you've outgrown? Want your n8n to live on your own brand's domain? You can now change your instance's address yourself, any time, straight from the dashboard — without losing data or downtime beyond a brief moment.

Where to find it

Open your instance in the dashboard, go to the Details tab, and click Change next to your domain. You'll pick one of two options.

Option 1: a new n8nautomation.cloud subdomain

Type the new subdomain you want (for example, my-team.n8nautomation.cloud). We handle the DNS for you, so there's nothing to configure on your end — just confirm and switch.

Option 2: your own custom domain

Prefer automations.yourcompany.com? Enter it, and we'll show you the exact DNS record to add at your domain provider — a single A record pointing to your instance. Add it, come back, and click Verify. We only switch once we can confirm your domain is pointing at your instance, then we issue a fresh SSL certificate automatically so it's secure from the first request.

A safe, WordPress-style switch

The change never happens until it's verified. Your current domain keeps working the entire time — the new one sits in a "pending" state, clearly shown alongside your live address, until the switch actually succeeds. If anything isn't ready, nothing changes and you can try again or cancel. No half-broken in-between state.

What to know before you switch

• Your webhook URLs will change. Anything that calls your n8n from the outside — webhooks registered with Stripe, GitHub, Telegram, etc. — points at your old address. After switching, update those integrations to the new domain.
• New domains take a few minutes to resolve everywhere. DNS propagation is normal; if the new address doesn't load instantly for you, give it a little time (and a browser refresh).
• One change per day. To protect SSL certificate limits, domain changes are limited to once every 24 hours.

Your workflows and data are untouched. Changing the domain only changes the address your instance answers on — all your workflows, credentials, and execution history stay exactly as they are.
